Midweek Links

Hey there, friends! Thank you so much to all of you who tweeted, and left sweet comments on Instagram and Facebook yesterday. Maile is fine. I'm fine. I'm not sure why it took me so long, but I finally figured out that she was having a horrible reaction to the antibiotic I started Monday night, for a sinus infection. Although Keflex has a low classification for affecting breastfed little ones, Maile is apparently very sensitive to it ... and it messed me up pretty good, too. Because Maile is still nursing, I try my best not to take medication, but untreated sinus infections can land me in the hospital, so I took a chance.

Today I'm planning on picking up a Neti pot, and some ear oil, to see if I can kick this crud naturally! (I've read extensively on Neti pots, and I figure, at worst, it just won't work.) I don't really want to take another antibiotic right now, however mild, and risk messing up Maile's little system again; she's just too little.

So, that's the yuck that's happening around here. We'll be back to our regularly scheduled programming soon, but while Maile and I rest up, here are some links to get you through Hump Day!

    1. Thanks, my friend! Feeling much better today. I think I'm the only person who almost always gains weight when I'm sick; how does that work!? ;)

    1. On the mend today, Leah -- thanks!

Why Mothers Matter had me in tears, too. I was talking to Tim this afternoon, and found myself complaining because we aren't going to have our babysitter (who comes once a week, for a few hours) for a couple of weeks, and Maile has been sooo clingy. His reply was so simple, but it really convicted me. He just said, "She's a mama's girl, honey. She loves you." My heart burst into about a zillion pieces, and I resolved to have more patience for the rest of the day! (I was about 80% successful, I think, haha.)

  3. Aww, poor little ducklings. I remember being so nervous to take anything while I was breastfeeding. It can be so scary sometimes.
I'm glad to know you found a natural way to get better. With my experience, natural is so much better.
And thanks for linking up all these cool posts.
Jeremy and I think of you often. :)

    1. It is really nerve wracking taking medication while nursing, for sure! I always try to stick to natural remedies, but sometimes I just really need something more. ::sigh::

I love your distressing DIY! I'm just terrified to try it, LOL.

Think of you a lot too, girly!

    1. Oh, good to hear -- Thanks! I actually had two nurse friends recommend it to me, but so much of what I've read leans toward the gimmicky side (or people dying of amoeba infestations ... what the ...). Anyway, I decided to finally try it, and I'm already feeling much better. (And using distilled or purified water seems kind of like a DUH to me, haha!)

  10. Ugh, sickness like that is SO hard, especially when you have a little around to still take care of 24/7. I'm so sorry!! Good for you for still nursing, and having made so many sacrifices for your sweet baby girl. You are an inspiration, more and more the more I get to know you!! (that sentence didn't really make sense.. but you get it, right? :)

I was reading through the comments and love what you said about Tim's comment about how much Maile just loves you. What a sweet reminder (even to me, about my own child who sometimes seems so clingy and I just want a break). Wise hubby you've got there :)

You're beautiful, and I hope that you are on the mend so soon! And thank you for the sweet shout out, means so much! Love you, sweet friend! xo

    1. Yes. I've definitely had that "about-to-lose-my-lunch feeling" when reading Jami's blog sometimes -- haha. But in a good way? That probably sounds crazy.

PS - I always, always, always read your blog, even when I don't comment ... I hope you know that!
