Midweek Links

Happy Hump Day! Today is a wonderful day because Tim is home. We have story time at the library this morning, and probably some grocery shopping this afternoon. I'm looking forward to enjoying some quality time with my little family. And with the weather warming up this week, you can guarantee we'll be having some park time, and maybe even do a little outdoor grilling!

Have a wonderful day!

Three blogs I love: Great Expectations, Junk Drawer, and Yellow Finch

Do you use coconut oil? (We do.)

This lightened up chicken tetrazzini is the perfect dinner for lingering chilly days.

Sandra is one of the most positive people I've met through social networking. Period.

We all know that Dax Shepard can make people laugh. But here, he made me cry. (Content and language warning.)

Are you keeping up with GMOs?

A free printable, featuring some of my favorite children's praise lyrics. Adorable.

Norovirus is now the leading cause of stomach flu among kids. Has your little had it?

Could Blossom be any cuter?

A little girl now has a dinosaur named after her. I love seeing girls taking an interest in science!

Pistachio cake. It looks amazing.

Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman have reunited. I don't usually post celeb stuff here, but this kinda gives me hope.

This is the cutest shop for babies and toddlers.

Kind of dying over this photo. Just take a look, and your day will be made!

Even the Majors pull Little League tricks sometimes.

Pretty bummed that The Met is being so snooty about this. Art is for everyone.

For the first time in its 148-year history, the director of the Secret Service is a woman. YES!

If you're a cat owner, you need to watch this video. Always a favorite!

AE is having a fantastic clearance sale right now.

Do you read Yesenia's blog yet? I really love it, and Yesenia is the sweetest.

    1. Woo hoo! I love me some positive feedback. ;)

Maile is just thrilled to have her dada home. In fact, she randomly says it throughout the day: "Dada hooooooome! Dada hooooooome!" It's the cutest.

  9. Thanks for sharing all of these links- I`m headed to check out the other blogs you suggested.

When I was at the Met in December, we didn`t pay the $25 recommended fee, but only $50 between 4 of us. It is in very small print, though, and I have heard rumors that some of the people working there can be a bit aggressive about suggesting you pay the full amount, or making you feel a bit bad if you don`t. However, I didn`t know that it was actually mandated that they allow for free entry because of grants- good to know!

    1. It's a slippery slope, isn't it? Of course, if you have the means to support the museum, you absolutely should give something. (I think of it like tipping your server, I suppose -- an admission amount that fits your budget, etc.) However, as you said, aggressive workers and volunteers are a different story; there is no reason someone on a limited budget should be shamed into giving up money to see all the treasures of the Met! I think $50 for four sounds perfectly reasonable ... still over $10 per person. Pretty standard!

My only visit to the Met was for a middle school field trip, but I'd love to go back as an adult, and take Maile someday. :)
