About

I'm Katie. This is a selfie because I'm most often the one behind the camera.

I live in Colorado with my little family; it has more animals than humans, and we kind of love that. We live with great intention, and believe that happiness is a way of life. Whole food, gardening, cooking together, adventuring, baseball and football, and all things Western and Polynesian -- we crave simplicity, and joy in the everyday.

I started this blog as a way for our family and friends to keep up with us, and it's evolved into so much more. Bits and pieces of motherhood ... some style (especially of the little variety) ... making our very boring house into our very own home ... but mostly, the things I don't want to forget. I'm so glad you're here.

I got Photoshop for Christmas last year; I still haven't opened it.

I'd like to have tea with Julie Andrews.

    1. Hey there, Rosalva! Thank you so much for becoming my newest follower.

I've really been enjoying fall this year, too! Now that we have a little girl, winter is kind of terrifying me, because we won't be able to play outside every day, but I'm trying to psych myself up about bundling up and playing in the snow! :)

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog today, your daughters name is beautiful. Our family has a tradition where the first born girls name always starts with an M so that's where my name comes from :)

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by, Jessica, and thank you for your service! I don't know if you looked at our "Love Story" page, but my hubby used to be in the Army, and I was an Army brat, so I definitely understand that lifestyle as well (though I was never in myself).

I hope you'll find yourself here again sometime. :)

  11. Hi Katie,

I stumbled upon your long distance marriage article and it led me to your site!

My name is Noelia Trujillo, and I work for Woman's Day Magazine (specifically WomansDay.com). I am working on an article about 10 marriage lessons from long distance couples. I see that you have lived apart from you spouse before, and I was wondering if you or your husband (or both) would be willing to speak with me about your relationship during that time. I would love to feature your advice in the article!

If you are interested, please email me at ntrujillo@hearst.com.

Thanks so much, and I look forward to hearing from you.

  13. Hi Katie,

I live over in Lakewood and ran across a blog post you did last year about 10 things not to say to an Oil & Gas wife. Thank you so much for writing that, as I can totally relate and feel that more people need to hear it. It's a hard life for sure and if you don't live it, you don't get it. Thanks again, it made my morning today.
