I Still Don't Like Pumpkin Spice Lattes

"Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms."

It has officially been 3 years (I went to graduate school) since I had to go 'back to school.' I still love this time of year, though. I know it's not technically fall yet, but this transitional time screams BE PRODUCTIVE! at me all the same. That, and I really, really miss my planner. I tape Post-it Notes on the kitchen wall, behind my computer (masking-taped Wild Well Control notes, if I'm being honest). I set Calendar alarms on my iPhone. I fail to check Google Calendar every. single. day, and frantically write emails of apology. There's something about that planner.

This time last year, we recently celebrated the wedding of friends, who added a bouncing baby girl to their family this month. We ate cheap pizza outside, sitting on the cool paving stones that together made up an incredibly poor excuse for a patio. We watched Maile toddle and fall, chasing the dogs around the yard. We have a table and chairs now, but I still choose to sit on the ground most often -- though we've traded paving stones for 'real' stone. Maile chases the dogs around the yard with confidence, tackling them, singing "Maile-and-Teddy, Maile-and-Chester." I'll never give up cheap pizza.

We've had to adjust to some pretty major changes recently, but surprisingly, we've also settled into them just fine. I move from room to room, de-cluttering, selling, donating. Maile thinks everything is treasure. We read books and make painted messes, and I ignore the housekeeping (madness, for those who know me well).

A new season, a new us. And every little thing is gonna be alright.

  1. I also love this time of year! Actually, I think its probably my absolute favorite. Though I LOVE pumpkin spice lattes, haha. There's something in the anticipation of changing seasons and going back to school that makes me so nostalgic.

    1. I agree, Jessica! I think as far as the pumpkin spice lattes go, they're just too sweet for me (like most Starbucks drinks), but I sure do love pumpkin -- and pumpkin spice!

And, sorry to say it, but you're crazy. Pumpkin Spice Lattes are my most loved drink!! haha. But I still think one day we must go for a real in-person coffee date. Wouldn't that be grand?

    1. There absolutely is, my friend -- one of my favorite movies of all time; I can watch it over and over again!

Ah, I dream of the day we can go for a real live coffee date! It seems silly not to try someday. :)
