Dear Internet, Maybe it's because motherhood has changed me. I'm still direct, frank, honest -- but much less combative. Maybe it's because having a toddler means I have someone watching me every waking moment, mimicking my every move. Maybe it's the way Tim teases me with such love, or the way he still sometimes stares at me across a restaurant table ... that stare that makes me slightly uncomfortable, that makes me break the silence with a challenging, "What?" "You're just beautiful," he says. But this internet is getting awfully big to me. More disagreeable, more taxing, more fatiguing. As someone who's kind of a "junkie", I keep telling myself that it's a good thing that I'm feeling the urge to take a step back and just ... be. You know, sort of like I'm being called to positiveness and simplicity and family and love.
The idea for this post came from the lovely Ashley, of The Sweet Season.
the last line for dear bookworm, i read a little too fast and thought it said: 'it's a trillion times harder when you're pregnant.'
ReplyDeleteconfession - my heart did a little leap! then i read again. lol
i hear you on the internet thing. while i love being online and socializing and blogging, i battle with just wanting to just simplify everything. have a great weekend hon!
Haha! Sadly, no. Not pregnant again yet.
DeleteHope you're having a great weekend too, love!
What a fun post!
ReplyDeleteYou''ve inspired me to do this.
As usual, your pnut is beautiful!!
Ooohhh, I can't WAIT to read yours!
DeleteYour girl looks so cute! And I feel the same way about my boy too- please stop growing up so quickly. :/
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Marie! It's so much fun, yet so sad watching them grow, isn't it?
DeleteI soooo hear you on the Internet thing!
ReplyDeleteHeart you, friend! Happy weekend!
Heart you, too! Hope you guys are having a fabulous weekend!
DeleteI like your thoughts on the internet. it does seem that everything out there is more and more negative. it's nice to read and follow blogs that put out positive inspirational content.
ReplyDeleteAlso... I second your feelings towards popcorn. I literally eat some everyday. Have a good weekend!!
Thanks, Shannon! I completely agree with you, and I've trimmed my "must-read" list of a blogs a bit to reflect that.
DeleteHope you have a great weekend, too! Thanks so much for leaving a little love.
I did the exact same thing as ^Leah!! I read that you were pregnant and thought "what?! Is this her way of announcing it or have I missed something?!" hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI'm at the exact same place on the internet issue, which is one of the reasons I've been taking a step back, and you know what? It feels really really good!!
That picture of Maile is adorable! Love! xo
Gah! No ... I wish! I am experiencing serious bump envy right now. :)
DeleteYou seem to have SUCH a great thing going when it comes to balancing your home and family life with the internet. It's super easy to get sucked into checking my phone every 2 minutes, or hopping online "just for a second" throughout the day. One thing I've noticed though, is that even though I excuse it as somehow being productive, I'm not as happy when that's how my days play out. Over the past two weeks or so, I'll hop on Instagram to post a photo, but I've had the laptop tucked away in a cabinet, and I totally agree -- it's felt so good!
Love ya!
Ugh...totally hear you on the first letter to the internet. People can be so negative and even if it's not their intent, they can come off as rude or disheartening. Confession: some corners of the world wide web even make me jealous and cause me to question myself and my own ability and THAT....that is not okay. I feel called to the same thing, Katie. Love and positivity and joy and lovely things. Love ya xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh girl, God has given you a wonderful talent! I know you know that, but I also know that it helps to have others tell you these things from time to time. :)
DeleteLove ya, too! Hope you're having a great weekend!

There are so many opposing views lately on the blogs I read, too. It is interesting but not always respectful. I think I need a root beer float now... :)
ReplyDeleteI think you hit the nail on the head: "It is interesting but not always respectful." I find points on both sides that I agree with. I have also been convicted by some of these posts to make some minor changes here (a good thing). At the end of the day, though, I think the most important thing is fostering a sense of community!
DeleteI hope you enjoyed that root beer float. ;)
I love that your hubs still makes you feel butterflies :) You are so cute Katie!
ReplyDeleteThank you, sweet Steph! I love that he does, too. If it makes any sense at all, it's a feeling we've worked really hard to keep around. :)
DeleteHope you're having a beautiful weekend!
Love this, and I love popcorn. We'd be great friends :) loving your blog lady!
ReplyDeleteXoxo Jamie
Popcorn IS pretty amazing! :) Thanks so much for stopping by, Jamie!
DeleteI love popcorn. And yellow.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you had an almost 2 year old too! My Charlotte will be 2 in May. Where does time go!
We were meant to be friends! :)
DeleteYes, Maile will also be 2 in May. I love the name Charlotte! Sooo pretty. Also, one of my favorite children's book characters.
Aw! If you don`t have something for a while, you want it to taste better, not worse! I am craving diet coke right now, and it better be amazing when I finally get some!
ReplyDeleteLove that photo, by the way!
