Happy Bump Day

Hump Day ... I meant to type Hump Day!

I'm just going to assume that you all know that I have baby fever. For reals. 90% of this blog is Baby Girl, being a mama, seeing Mr. M as a father. I know! You love it, right?

I'm ready to add to our family. Mr. M is ready to our family. Maile is kinda obsessed with saying and signing baby, which she pronounces bee-bee. Which is so adorable, it makes my ovaries ache. Which you obviously wanted to know.

My body? Probably. Maybe. By any measure, I had a "good" first pregnancy. (Except that the weight gain was really, really, extraordinarily hard for me to deal with, mentally.) Though Maile graced us with her presence a bit early, and labor and delivery was extremely long, drawn out ... at times, scary ... I ... we ... made it through OK. Extra ounces would've just made her grand debut harder on everyone. Besides, being petite is perfect for Maile.

This is absolutely not an announcement of any kind. Just one mama sending out her random, baby-hungry thoughts, to the internet. Hellooo, internet!

Hope your week is going wonderfully. Filled with Thanksgiving preparation and all things spiced (pumpkin, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, ginger ...). If it's okay with you, I'll just be dreaming baby dreams over here.

Photos by my extraordinarily talented best friend, Alicia {personal blog | photography site}, who flew from Virginia to Colorado, just after Maile was born, to be the one to take these snapshots. Did I burst into tears looking through the folder? Maybe. Maybe not. I'll never tell.

If you're not so into thoughts of squishy little toes, of newborn yawns, and sleepless nights, perhaps you feel like a little pre-holiday shopping. Check out my lovely affiliate to your left, Shabby Apple. One of my favorite pieces right now is the Night Train dress. I think it'd be perfect for a holiday event at church, or a fancy dinner with Mr. M.

Happy shopping, and Happy Hump Day, friends!

  1. Awww, I've had baby fever for about two years now. But my tubes are tied and my hubby doesn't want to add to our family. :-/

    1. That is such a tough spot to be in Alaythea! If your hubby comes around to adding to your little family, maybe adoption is in your future. Or even fostering? Miss Gianna is so beautiful! I'm sure she would make a wonderful sister.

  2. That's so exciting when you make that decision to have another!! I have baby fever too, but no more for us. I'll have to live out this baby fever through you ;)

    Beautiful photos!

    1. I think three is such a great number! For some reason, it just seems more ... dynamic. :) Not that families with one or two aren't, but I've heard from so many mothers that the third child changes everything!

  3. So... announcement coming soon?
Oh man, the weight gain is a huge one for me! Do NOT want to get pregnant again till I've lost it all! But, you are looking amazing and I'll be waiting for some news! xo

    1. Haha! We'll see, Andrea! We definitely want to add to our family. :)

I'm glad I'm not alone with the weight gain making me feel awful. I was incredibly healthy, but I still put on almost 40 lbs. And on a 4'10" frame, that's a horrible feeling. I was borderline depressed for a lot of my pregnancy. I also struggled with feelings of guilt, because there are so many who would love to be pregnant -- The guilt just made me feel even worse!

This time around, though, (God willing), I'm feeling a lot more prepared for everything ... I think! ;)

  4. Awww, baby fever! I must be honest I definitely had that, when I saw my friends having brand new babies. But then something happened, Jeremy's terrible twos started, and suddenly the baby fever went away... Lol
You guys better get crackin' if you want more, before Maile starts her terrible twos and you change your minds Haha. Maile is an angel though, so that probably wont happen. Maybe you'll even have a boy! I have TONS of boy clothes if you want them? Hehe, it's starting.

    1. LOL. You crack me up!

She is definitely developing more ... independence, we'll say. But we've found (so far) that she's fairly easy to correct. Things usually calm down within less than 5 minutes. Hopefully that continues!

Tim is hoping for a boy, for sure! And if that happens, we'll happily take hand-me-downs. :)

  5. I want more too. Just trying to talk my hubby into it. :)

    1. Talking Tim into it isn't ever something I'll have to worry about, I don't think. He was ready for babies the day we got married! Haha.

You two make such gorgeous littles ... I know you have a lot on your plate, but I vote for more Beckner babies!

  6. Oh baby fever, I know it well :) We would love to add another little to our fam. Lord willing soon! I definitely have apprehension when I think about going through labour again (went into labour friday morning, Cruz was born Sunday afternoon via c-section. NOT FUN.) but i made it through that time, I'm sure I would make it through again! :)
The weight gain was not a big deal for me, to be perfectly honest. I just somehow had the mindset that it was for the healthy growth of my baby, and that settled it in my mind. I was ok with extra pounds! Mind you, I'm 5'9", so it gets distributed pretty well throughout. (I saw on your comments that you're 4'10"?! I had no idea you're so petite! Awesome! I think i would feel like a giant next to you! haha)
Anyway, all that to say that i understand the baby fever and aching ovaries! Can't wait for an announcement from you! xo

    1. My labor was two and a half days, as well. I remember thinking I wouldn't have the energy to get Maile into the world on my own, but it's truly amazing what the body can do! My doctor (whom I love) has told me that I should prepare myself for the very real possibility that the next baby will be born via C-section. After Maile was delivered, she told me that if she'd even been a few ounces bigger, an inch or so longer, I wouldn't have been able to deliver her myself. But I trust that delivery will happen the way that it's supposed to happen. As long as a future little one is healthy, that's all that matters!

Yep, just 4'10" ... My best friend Alicia is about 5'9"-5'10"; when we were in high school, we would get ready for marching band competitions (because we were that cool, haha) together, and she would just stand behind me -- She could see right over my head! Luckily, Tim is also about 5'10", and not any taller!

I'll be looking forward to an announcement from you, too! :)

  7. Oh my goodness, I know how you feel! I don't admit it much, but I have a BAD case of baby fever! I never thought I'd be keen to jump back in again so soon but oh I am. I'd love to have a whole house of kids :-) I hear you on the long & scary labor - it took 68 hours to get Oliver into this world and although it was worth every (sometimes stressful) second, I know in my heart I'm not ready to go through that again. You got gorgeous newborn pics of Maile there!

    1. I'm with you, Luana! I didn't think I'd be ready again so soon, either. But even on the bad days ... Being a mama is something truly special. We'd love to fill our spare bedrooms with littles. :)

    1. Thank you so much, Stephanie!

I know that Mr. M had awful baby fever when we first got married. I'm glad that we waited a few years to bring our little into the world, though. :)

Maybe we'll be seeing an announcement from you sometime in the near future!? Hehe.

      Thanks for leaving some love!
