Our Easter weekend was, well ... awesome. The weekend flew by, but we enjoyed each other as a family so much. And somehow, somehow, I managed to keep Easter candy out of the house this year. Score one, for me!
Saturday morning, we all woke up a little early, anticipating the big neighborhood egg hunt. Of course, not remembering last year's egg hunt, Maile was much more excited about the word 'park' than about the egg hunt. I suppose, if I were two, the concept of hunting eggs would sound pretty strange to me, too! (Even if eggs are one of Maile's favorite foods.) The neighborhood hunt was just as intense this year as last, but Maile managed to get two eggs -- an improvement from last year's single egg!
Because she was already dressed, and because we weren't sure we'd have the opportunity to take any pictures before church on Sunday morning, we went ahead and put together her Easter basket, following the egg hunt. She had a pretty good time examining the little presents we selected for her basket, but a roll of Disney princess stickers was definitely the biggest hit. We stuck to small, but thoughtful, items: bunny ears for make-believe, a couple of bouncy balls (she loves to drop them off the stair landing), foam bath letters, a new sippy cup ... My parents were so thoughtful to send Maile the adorable personalized basket.
We went on a walk around the neighborhood, dyed Easter eggs (quite the task, with an almost two year-old), and played outside. We spent a good part of the day coloring our driveway with sidewalk chalk, which felt like a particularly wonderful parental rite of passage. Saturday night, Tim read the Resurrection story to Maile. On Sunday, we attended church, and celebrated Maile's "graduation" from the nursery to Sunday School with ice cream. I was so grateful to enjoy such a simple weekend with my little family.
I know this post is a little late in coming, and whether I commented or not, I sure enjoyed seeing how all of you spent Easter!
