Real Oilfield Wives Feature

Most of you probably aren't familiar with Real Oilfield Wives; I was fortunate enough to find this page on Facebook a few months ago, while I was cruising for a community page geared toward roughneck families.

This week, I applied to be the newest member of the ROW writing team, and while the final decision hasn't yet been made, today, the wonderful ladies of Real Oilfield Wives are featuring a short piece I wrote for the site, as part of my application process.

It would mean the world to me if you'd visit my post ... it is an emotional little piece, one that I hope will help you learn a bit more about me and our family. You can find it here.

Enjoy your weekend, friends!

  1. totally made me tear up. i can't imagine how hard it must be to know his job is dangerous and that he is away. you're a strong momma and by what you wrote it sounds like your husband is not only so important to you but your baby's world.

    1. You are so sweet, Leah -- thank you! Tim really is Maile's world, too ... I don't think people give babies (or young toddlers) enough credit sometimes; she is so aware of her family and surroundings. She may not understand exactly where Tim goes, or why he has to leave, but she sure understands that he's coming back, that he's Dada, and that he loves her!

  2. You are so strong, it's amazing being away from your husband and having to wonder if he's okay when he's not with you. I really don't know how you do it. It's crazy though because not many people understand how dangerous his job is, I don't even understand fully. Thank you for sharing that with us :)
I can tell you have a strong family.

p.s. I hope you guys are enjoying your Christmas!

    1. As long as everyone is aware of their surroundings, and doing their job correctly, it can be really safe! It's when guys start skipping steps, or getting tired, that things can go really wrong, really fast. That's why Tim is always reminding me how important it is for him to know and trust his crew!

  3. Beautiful post, Katie! You are such a strong lady! I don't think I truly appreciate the fact that my husband doesn't have to leave me for extended periods of time. I'll try a heck of a lot harder to now. Your Maile is so lucky to have such a wonderful woman as a mother and such a hardworker for a father. :) XO

    1. Thank you, Eden! Having your hubby with you most of the time is definitely something special. I always laugh a little to myself when my friends complain about a weekend business trip away, or something like that. Not to take away from their husband's being away at all, but perspective can be a funny thing! ;) <3

  4. What a beautiful post! It puts my marriage in perspective, sometimes I complain about my insane hours and the time I spend away from my husband and daughter. Thanks for sharing!
